The Summer Exhibition The Royal Academy of Art, London 14 June - 22 August 2010 A small print, The sun is but a morning star (for Henry David Thoreau), is hung in the print room of the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. The image is derived from the title page of the first edition of Walden. The original woodcut was based on a drawing by Thoreau's sister Sophia and has been redrawn and printed over a black background to suggest that a light burns within Thoreau's cabin. |
